In love with Lanvin

Having to research shoes is a really tough job but I'm managing. This week, I came across these and instantly fell in love with them. They are gorgeous Lanvin satin embellished shoes with crystal soles.

We're used to seeing red at the bottom of soles, but now the trend is crystals. We have reached that time of year when the glitter, crystals and sequins come out. Everyone is adding some sparkles to their outfits to brighten up these dark dull Winter days.
Many high street retailers like Dune are already getting their Autumn sparkles out. You could wait and wear them at Christmas, or just go mad and wear them now, I know I would. Having sparkles cover the whole shoe, shows that you're ready to party.

As for these Lanvin's, they offer another twist on the look by taking the crystals right up into the foot arch.

Dorothy's Ruby Slippers

It was announced yesterday that Dorothy’s Ruby slippers, which were worn by Judy Garland in The Wizard of Oz, are coming to London. They are here to feature in a Hollywood costume exhibition at the V&A Museum. This will be the first time they have been displayed outside of America and will only be on display for 4 weeks. I wish I lived closer to London, can I travel 7 hours on the train to see a pair of shoes?

The shoes are also to be reunited with Dorothy’s iconic blue and white pinafore dress for the first time since filming in 1939. The exhibition is said to have been in planning for the past 5 years. They do say ‘good things happen to those who wait’. The director of the V&A, Martin Roth said “This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to see these ruby slippers.”

Other pieces to feature in the collection include Holly Golightly’s black Givenchy dress from Breakfast at Tiffany’s and the gorgeous green gown Keira Knightly wore as Cecilia Tallis in Atonement.

If you can’t make it to London to see the real deal, high street stores like New Look and Schuh could take you home with their red sparkly shoes, just remember to click them three times because...”There’s no place like home”

Schuh £65
New Look £45

Luckily I have my own pair
Tried clicking my heels, but it never seems to take me home,
How do Dorothy's shoes do it?

Louboutin's Glass Slippers

The man behind the red soles has created real-life Cinderella glass slippers.

The collaboration was announced back in April, when Christian Louboutin was invited to bring Cinderella's iconic slippers to life to coincide with the worldwide release of Cinderella: The Diamond Edition.

Unveiled during Paris fashion week, Louboutin's heels perfectly encapsulate the beauty and fantasy of Walt Disney's legendary film.  "Cinderella is not only an iconic character when it comes to beauty, grace and fairytale love, but also shoes," said Louboutin. "Her character and her story dictated the design to me, it was all there in the pages and the words of this tale."

The design features mesh, lace and crystals, along with crystal covered heels, two delicate shimmering butterflies and naturally, Louboutin's red soles.

Unfortunately these limited edition heels are not available to buy, only 20 pairs were created for the collaboration.

Louboutins

This week, I'm going to look at the most iconic shoe designer, that everyone knows about. You can spot their red soles a mile away and they are adored by millions all over the world. Yes, I'm talking about Christian Louboutins.

In 1991, a young shoe designer opened his own shoe salon in Paris. He had no idea that 21 years later his shoes would become the most iconic shoes in the world. Having clients such as Lady Gaga, Madonna, Blake Lively and  Victoria Beckham really helped to increase the awareness of his brand.

I believe, that if you're going to buy shoes, buy quality. You want to feel gorgeous and glamorous in your shoes, and you want them to last. Christian Louboutins are handcrafted using the best materials. Leather is an expensive material to buy, yet the quality, durability and feel are great; that is why many choose to buy Louboutins. With care, the shoes will last for years and will be a staple item in a woman's shoe collection.

First Post!

Hi everyone!

Back to Uni, back to the early starts and back to having coursework...but wait, this year I get to write a blog all about the things I love...Shoes! I can't really complain. Yes, I'm a fashion student and yes Vogue and Harper's is on our reading list. I'm currently living in Aberdeen and loving every minute. I may be a student, but I still look at the gorgerous sparkly things that at the moment I can't afford.

In this blog, I will look at shoe designers and their iconic shoes. From Louboutins to Vans, I will try on every pair, all in the name of research.

I'll be putting my best foot forward...

More updates coming soon
